American artist Viginia Lee Burton

I just finished watching an interesting documentary on late artist and illustrator Virginia Lee Burton on WHYY Philadelphia, "A Sense of Place" (here is the site for the movie). The program, with commentary from her sons, family friends and other artists talks about the life and work of Virginia from childhood in New England, to CA to Gloucester, MA where she lived most of her life. She is best known for her children's books and also worked in decorative and textile arts.

As the founder of the Folly Cove Designers (founded in 1940), she taught lessons in printmaking and design to neighbors. The collective grew and its work was sold in retail locations, and featured in magazines. Today work from the Folly Cove Designers can be found in museums including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

I would love to buy some of her beautiful children's books and prints some day!

Old Navy Wish List!! (and more)

Old Navy is great for summer clothes!  I'm been craving a shopping trip, and I think I can make a stop this weekend.  Here's what looks good!
Swimsuits, like this pink retro stripped bikini!  It looks like a little Missoni number, for ($16.50 a piece) a total of $33?

I like their little dresses for summer too, they're great for casual days!  I was expecting a bit better of a selection, but hoping they have more options in the store.  This might work, it's a good color!

While on the topic of shoes..  I have been looking for a nice pair of sandal-booties for the summer, but not too bootie-ish, more sandal.. I like these but haven't decided to purchase yet!  Have to make sure there is nothing better out there first.
